On Sunday, Sept. 29th, the Florida Times-Union recognized Dr. Charles Greene of Jacksonville ENT and Surgery as a “Best Visionary of Jacksonville,” alongside Mayor Lenny Curry and Shad Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Congratulations, Dr. Greene!

 

Cultural Foundation Honors Philanthropic Contributions and Scholarship Awardees

Dr. Charles Greene, M.D., PhD., P.A., received the Health and Safety Award

The Women of Color Cultural Foundation Inc. presented its 17th Annual Gala Event over the weekend at the Omni Hotel in downtown Jacksonville.

This year’s theme “Mardi Gras Masquerade,” set the tone for a ballroom filled with guests adorned in masks and attire enjoying an evening of fine dining, dancing and a silent auction. Recognition was given to outstanding honorees for their charitable and cultural philanthropic contributions throughout the years. Soloist, Florence Franks, moved the crowd with her harmonious voice in her tribute to this year’s honorees. Dr. Charles Greene, M.D., PhD., P.A., received the Health and Safety Award; Dr. Cynthia Bioteau received the Education Award; and Ms. Hillery Shepherd received the Economic Development Award and Dr. William Cody and Mrs. Betty Cody, received the Distinguished Couple of the Year Award. The evening event also honored WOCCF’s Tween USA Program scholarship recipients Skylar McPhail and Kiana L. Wilkins who received a $2,000 scholarship check from the organizations president, Helen Jackson. The Women of Color Cultural Foundation Inc. is a cross cultural-alliance of women to be a voice and force for change.

The purpose of the foundation is to assist in the unmet needs of people of color, eliminate disparities in health, education, economic development, and other areas that affect the equality and common good of the community.
